What To  Expect In Therapy Sessions

How Can I Best Use My Appointment Time?

Therapy is time set aside for YOU. To make sure that you feel you were able to use your time as effectively as possible, it’s a great idea to have a journal to jot things down throughout the week that you know you want to discuss in session. It’s up to you to make sure you’re working on what is most important to you.

Length of sessions

Therapy sessions range from 50 to 60 mins.

What Can I Talk About?

Therapy is a safe place for you to be yourself. This means there are no areas that are “out of bounds” or “taboo.” Whatever you are dealing with, is something that can be talked about in session.

How Confidential Is Therapy?

Any information you share in therapy is confidential and will not be shared outside of the therapy session. While notes are needed for each appointment, they are a general summary and not a detailed account. Most notes I write are never seen by anyone but me.

Exceptions to Confidentiality

1. Insurance may request access to notes to verify medical necessity and accurate documentation of sessions.

2. Information is shared in session that I am legally required to report as a Mandated Reporter. This is limited to if I feel you are a risk to yourself, a risk to others, or if you share information that a minor, senior (65+) or an individual with a disability is being abused/mistreated.

Getting Started

Why should I book a Consultation?

A consultation is a 15 minute video appointment to discuss what has brought you to therapy and what kind of support you are seeking. It will also give me a chance to answer any questions you may have. At the end of it, I will give you the chance to book your first session. This gives you the opportunity to see if you think we’ll be a good fir before committing to a full appointment. Please note: CONSULTATIONS ARE ONLY VIRTUAL, never in person.

Do I take your insurance?

Yes, I accept the following insurances: Aetna, Anthem, BCBS, CDPHP, MVP, and UHC. I do not take Medicaid or Medicare plans. If you are unsure if I take your specific plan, contact your insurance company and ask if I am an ‘in network’ provider. You can also check what your “Outpatient Behavioral Health” benefits are with your insurance company, to find out what the cost of your session will be.

Virtual or In Person

Virtual sessions are conducted over video and can be accessed via a link that will be sent to you once you have scheduled your first session. Virtual sessions allow you more flexibility in terms of location and time, but also require you to have a consistent internet connection and a private space.

In person sessions are available in my office located at 1 Barney Rd. STE 223, Clifton Park, NY 12065. My office is located on the 2nd floor which can only be accessed via stairs.

Attendance Policy

I require 24 hours notice in order to cancel your appointment without penalty. If you attempt to cancel same day, you will be charged a $100 fee.
